Coral Gables Cardiology Associates, an internal medicine and cardiology practice, is seeking a motivated Medical Assistant with a passion for high quality patient care.
The Medical Assistant will perform MA duties including intake, phlebotomy, EKGs, injections, chest x-rays, preparation of samples for outside labs, prepping for imaging labs, and assisting physicians. The individual may also assist physicians with some aspects of charting, patient follow up communications, and other support functions. Other tasks will include preparing of visit CPT and diagnostic codes relating to billing within the EMR under physician guidance, direct communication with patients during and after the exam, detailing follow up needs, coordinating with other staff inside and outside the office and performing other assigned duties with the goal of supporting the physician and enabling efficiency and top care in this patient-focused environment.
This individual will work as part of a overall clinical group, under the immediate direction of a highly experienced lab manager. Our staff works as an integrated team and this position will occasionally be asked to answer phones, check-in and register patients, and otherwise assist in office operations.
· Outstanding customer relationship skills are an absolute must – our number one priority is patient care. The applicant should have excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor on the phone and in person.
· The individual must be a clear, concise speaker and writer with strong grammatical and spelling skills, and with medical terminology experience.
· The individual must be very comfortable learning and using a variety of technical applications and software. Experience with Athena Healthcare EMR a major plus.
· The individual must be able to anticipate physician needs to facilitate office flow, work collaboratively with other staff, and proactively identify opportunities to improve the quality of care and relevant operations.
· The successful applicant will be expected to learn and apply medical terminologies and techniques. A familiarity with medical records associated with internal medicine and cardiology is a plus.
· Applicant must be very reliable, punctual and present during working hours.
· Adaptability and flexibility are very important to this position. The ability to multi-task, keep track of multiple work flows, and follow through with tasks is extremely important.
· At a minimum the applicant must have a high school diploma and have a MA certification or an academic accreditation. A phlebotomy technician diploma or certificate of completion—or an official transcript with graduation date—from an approved program is strongly preferred.
· Two or more years of experience as a medical assistant is required.
· One or more years as a medical scribe is required.
Hours: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. If patient care dictates, staff is expected to remain later if needed. Occasionally this office sees patients after hours or over the weekend. Therefore, schedule flexibility is a big plus for this position.
Benefits: Health insurance, holidays, vacation and sick time is provided after a 90-day probationary period. Employees make a small contribution towards health insurance. Employees have access to a SIMPLE IRA plan with a limited employer match after one year, and consideration for annual bonuses.
Salary: This is a salaried position with benefits as described above. Salary is negotiable if applicant possesses outstanding skills.
