Description:
We are seeking a skilled and highly organized Legal Assistant with a minimum of two years of experience to join our litigation team. The ideal candidate will have experience in insurance defense and direct hire practices, demonstrating a strong understanding of the legal process and terminology. The Legal Assistant will support attorneys in the litigation department, providing administrative and legal research support to ensure cases are managed efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities:

Case Management: Assist attorneys in managing case files, including document organization, discovery, pleadings, and court filings. Maintain and update case files, ensuring all documents are current and easily accessible.

Court Filings: Prepare and file court documents electronically and in person, as needed. Monitor deadlines and ensure timely filings.

Communication: Act as a liaison between attorneys, clients, courts, and opposing counsel. Schedule meetings, depositions, and court appearances. Manage attorney calendars and provide reminders of key dates and deadlines.

Trial Preparation: Assist in preparing for trials, hearings, and depositions, including organizing exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders. Coordinate logistics and ensure all necessary materials are available.

Administrative Support: Perform general administrative tasks, such as answering phones, managing correspondence, scheduling meetings, and processing expense reports.
Qualifications:

`Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal, preferably in litigation, insurance defense, or direct hire.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Clio, and Westlaw.

Knowledge: Strong understanding of legal terminology and litigation processes. Familiarity with court rules and procedures, particularly in the jurisdiction(s) relevant to the firm's practice.

Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. Attention to detail is crucial.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys, clients, and other legal professionals.
