Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting functions, managing financial transactions, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting processes, financial period closing reporting, and tax compliance, as well as excellent analytical and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records using QuickBooks.
- Record financial transactions, including accounts receivable, and payroll entries.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial accounts on a monthly basis.
- Prepare and post journal entries, adjusting entries, and closing entries as necessary.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Conduct financial analysis, variance analysis, and trend analysis to identify areas of improvement and potential risks.
- Provide insights and recommendations to management based on financial analysis findings.
- Collect information to provide necessary information to our tax consultants for the filing of federal and state and local tax returns, payroll tax returns, and other applicable tax filings in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Prepare some tax filings and government reports not prepared by our tax consultants.
- Assist with tax planning and tax strategy development to optimize tax efficiency and minimize tax liabilities.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors during tax audits and financial audits.
- Monitor accounts receivable aging, invoicing and provide assistance to sales organization in the collection of overdue accounts.
- Generate and distribute invoices, credit memos, and statements to clients as needed.
- valuate and streamline financial systems and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Implement new accounting software or upgrades as needed, and provide training and support to staff on financial systems and procedures.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to enhance productivity and effectiveness.
Qualifications
- BS degree in accounting, finance, or related field with accounting concentration
- CPA preferred
- 5 years of experience working in corporate accounting roles. This experience should involve financial reporting, managing accounts, and potentially leading junior staff.
- Excellent communication skills to present findings and collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments.
- The ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and interpret financial results.
- Expertise in financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, and closing procedures.
- The ability to solve complex accounting issues and ensure accuracy in financial records.
- Proficiency in accounting software like QuickBooks and SAP
