Title: Low Voltage Structured Cable Technician Level 1
Location: New York, NY & New Jersey
Coranet Corp. is seeking a Level 1 Cable Technician to join our Field Service teams. The Technician will work under our Lead Cable Technicians on Coranet's structured cabling technician teams to entirely and successfully install low-voltage projects, including structured cabling, access control, physical security, wireless, and AV projects, throughout the New York Tri-State region.
A Technician I works with moderate supervision and guidance from a Technician II and III or operations coordinator installing, testing, and troubleshooting telecommunication connectivity systems. Individuals classified as Technician I are familiar with the telecommunications installation but have not yet obtained the experience or expertise required for Leads or Technician II classification. Individuals in this classification may hold a BICSI or manufacturer certification and are willing and able to accept direction, guidance, and critique from individuals in advanced classifications.

Have demonstrated experience:
1. with copper (CAT5e/CAT6) and fiber [single mode/multi mode] cable: rough-in, labeling, terminations, and testing.
2. with copper patch panel: dress-in; terminations; labeling; and, testing.
3. patching according to a customer-provided switch matrix.
4. with Fluke Networks [or equivalent] copper/fiber cable tester/analyzer.
5. working with General Contractors and other project trades, e.g., electrical, furniture, carpet, etc.
6. with the receipt and inventory of drop-shipped project materials.
7. with LAN rack: assembly; grounding; cable runways; cable tray; etc.
8. in extending carrier POTS; T1; cable TV circuits.
9. working in new or existing client office environments.
Qualifications

Ability to pass pre-employment screening

Finger & wrist dexterity & hand/eye coordination.

Ability to work from heights such as man lifts, scissor lifts & roof tops utilizing proper fall protection.

Ability to use small hand tools.

Ability to use power tools.

Climbing of stairs, ladders, and/or scaffolds.

Ability to walk, stand, bend, lift up to 50 lbs., and drive a vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated written & verbal skills.

Available for off-hour assignments.

Copper or fiber Certifications, e.g., CommScope, Corning, etc.

OSHA 30 Certification

SST Card

Capable of operating with minimal supervision.

Valid driver's license

Access to vehicle

Willing to travel to NJ, Long Island, and Metro NY

Willing to work weekdays, nights, and weekends
Working Conditions

Job is usually performed in indoor/outdoor environments under multiple environmental conditions.

Ability to accept periodic assignments that involve travel away from immediate district office area based on client needs, business needs and project scope.

Exposure to noisy or dusty conditions; chemicals & solvents; mechanical, electrical, and/or other hazards.

General hours of Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm. But ability to provide support during and outside regular business hours is required.
