Summary of Position:
A CFP fire sprinkler designer will be required to design, coordinate and prepare fabrication reports for all styles of projects ranging from small tenant improvements to large commercial, industrial and residential facilities. They will be responsible for all aspects of design from project hand-off to final building approval with the local authorities and the end-user.
- Review contract drawings and specifications provided by the general contractor and other trades to determine the best methods for design.
- Design fire protection sprinkler systems with as much accuracy as possible based on contractual drawings and field verifications.
- Provide fire sprinkler designs utilizing AutoSprink, or any CAD-based fire sprinkler design software.
- Coordinate fire sprinkler piping with other MEP trades utilizing either lay-over or BIM software.
- Survey projects on site.
- Create fabrication reports and field construction drawings for the use of field personnel.
- Perform seismic and hydraulic calculations.
- Submit design plans to AHJ’s and general contractors for review.
- Review changes to the scope of work and present changes to the project manager assigned to the project.
- Provide consistent communication with CFP team partners and general contractors/design team.
- Provide close-out documentation at the end of the project.

- Associates or engineering degree from a technical college or university preferred.
- Two or more years of experience in fire sprinkler design.
- Able to read and interpret construction drawings.
- NICET Level 1 Certification preferred, but not required.
- Ability to design utilizing CAD-based drafting software.
- Must have the ability to work independently as well as with others in a team atmosphere.
- Effectively present information to customers, clients, and other CFP employees utilizing either written or verbal methods.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to travel to job sites and meetings when required.
