On a given day, a Commercial HVAC Estimator will:
- Prepare estimates for various commercial projects through utilization of estimating programs and other industry tools, while ensuring a thorough scope is developed for each bid.
- Communicate with general contractors and customers regarding design and mechanical requirements.
- Develop budgetary estimates as requested.
- Coordinate with vendors, engineers, and subcontractors to put together pricing for estimates.
- Review bid requests
- Attend initial walkthroughs and pre-bid meetings with general contractors and customers.
- Have a thorough understanding of building codes and regulations and ensure that these are integrated into bids.
- Follow-up on all bids to determine viable backlog.
- Develop strong working relationships with customers and general contractors.
- Collaborate with the Commercial Coordinator to compile necessary paperwork for project execution, including submittals, permits, and change orders.
- Coordinate with the Project Managers to ensure that work is scheduled according to the general contractor or customer’s expectations.
- Conduct project turnover meetings
- Determine cost effective ways to bid jobs while remaining within specifications.
- Calculate building design requirements.
