Job Title: JIB and Overhead Crane Operator
Reports To: Shipping/Receiving Department Manager
SUMMARY:
Schedules delivery appointments, enters receiving data into computer, inventory controls, checks all paperwork for accuracy locates and tags coils and receives in credit material. Additionally, locates, stages, checks loading instruction and ships completed orders per customer specifications, complete all paperwork for drivers, order trucks, escort trucks through the entrance gate, inspect loads on truck for quality defects and make decisions to substitute material, fill out loads when possible, contact customer on status of loads.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Locates and distributes material to given location.
- Verifies loading specifics and checks for proper packaging.
- Checks trailer condition to ensure safety polices and procedures are followed.
- Communicates with truck driver on loading instructions and distribution of weight as per guidelines.
- Loads truck using crane or forklift.
- Verifies final truckload checklist and returns paperwork to truck driver.
- Performs sorting of material and repackaging.
- Performs regular safety checks on lifting equipment.Contact customers on status of loads
- Schedule and order trucking to complete customer delivery requirements.
- Receives and enters inventory data
- Schedules receiving appointments
- Logs and files daily truck loads
- Operates overhead door
- Directs traffic in and out of the plant
- Accountable for inventory control
- Observes operation of machines and reports any problems requiring corrective or preventative maintenance.
- Observe work area used by Receiving production crew and assist in maintaining good housekeeping in the area.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
- May assist in training other personal as directed by management.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Six to nine months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Knowledge of freight rates and trucking company contacts preferred.
- Knowledge of location of warehouse and commercial departments
- Ability to read and understand Bar Mics
Ability to run a table saw and a forklift (In-house Forklift Certification may be required)
- Ability to run a Jib crane
- Ability to read and understand Inventory tags
- Read Shipping and receiving related equipment operating manuals
- Understand and use company production related computer applications
- Ability to operate various small operating equipment
