Summary of Position:
Sterling Sign and Printing company currently seeking a Designer / Production Lead to wear many hats and be responsible for overseeing daily operations of the sign shop to run smoothly and in a client-focused manner. This position includes quality control, workflow management and production. In addition, this position serves as the client specialist to consult with clients and determine the best sign and graphics solution to meet their business needs. In addition, this position serves as backup to all shop functions.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum 4 years experience in the signage or associated industry
- Thorough knowledge of sign industry substrates, media, products
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Professional, upbeat, positive attitude
- Sharp attention to detail
- Keen multi-tasking abilities
- Ability to work independently and as an integral team member
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with diverse customer/prospect base & employees.
Expertise in the following software applications a plus:
- Onyx & FlexiSign – current version
- Adobe Illustrator – current version
- Adobe Photoshop – current version
- Adobe Acrobat Professional – current version
- Microsoft Office – current version (Word, Excel, Power Point)
Expertise in wide-format printer and Flatbed Cutters
Expertise in color management concepts and procedures
Primary Responsibilities:
Customer Service
- Work with customer service representatives and clients in a consultative manner to understand their needs and provide guidance for best solution.
- Estimate Creation a plus
- Coordinate job scheduling/Project Management
- Serve as final quality control to ensure product/service is accurate
Job Production
- Attend morning production meetings
- Serve as lead in all graphic and signage production
- Serve as lead in all graphic and signage installation-either or install coordinate daily sign installations with our install team
- Maintain a safe work environment
Operation and Maintenance of Equipment:
- Be able to operate plotter, laminator, wide-format equipment to produce client jobs.
- Be able to maintain and monitor server and backup routines for all files produced in the Graphics department.
- Be able to operate desktop and/or printers/cutters as needed.
- Be able to operate and calibrate monitor, office printers, print equipment, etc. to ensure accurate color production and proofing.
- Be able to clean and maintain all equipment
Quality
- Maintain superior quality on all individual work.
- Work with team members to ensure superior quality on all jobs produced.
Inventory
- Monitor substrate and media to maintain just-in-time production materials
- Follow management guidelines to place and receive material orders
- Maintain accurate records for placing and receiving material orders
- Coordinate equipment maintenance as needed per management
General
- Work with management team to reschedule workloads as necessary to meet promised due dates.
- Maintain clean and organized Graphics area
- Abide by center policies/procedures as outlined.
