Open postdoctoral position in language perception/production
General description
Dr. Bonnie Nozari’s lab in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences (PBS) at Indiana University is accepting applications for a postdoctoral fellow. This is an NSF-funded position for a collaborative effort with Dr. Lori Holt’s lab at the University of Texas, Austin. The project focuses on the relationship between language perception and production systems. We are interested in big questions that not only further our understanding of auditory processing, but also of cognition in general. Example of such questions include: how does perception influence action and vice versa? How does a system learn and how does such learning transfer from one system to another?
The successful candidate can expect regular engagement with both Drs. Nozari and Holt and their labs that will broaden their expertise and professional networks. In addition to the opportunity of working jointly with two experts on language production and auditory processing, IU provides excellent opportunities for postdoctoral training and career development. Dr. Nozari is part of the interdisciplinary Cognitive Science program at IU, which brings together researchers from psychology, linguistics, computer science, philosophy, AI, and many other departments. Moreover, IU has a strong medical school and clinical programs, which provides further opportunities for research with clinical populations.
The position is offered for one year, with the possibility of renewal pending satisfactory performance. August 2024 is the expected start date, but it is flexible. Salary is commensurate with NIH guidelines.
