Position Summary
The EMS Base Supervisor is responsible for the efficient and effective management of an EMS base station, ensuring the provision of high-quality emergency medical services. This role includes overseeing daily operations, managing personnel, maintaining equipment and supplies, and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Oversee the daily operations of the EMS base, ensuring all shifts are adequately staffed and resources are appropriately allocated.
- Coordinate with dispatch to manage deployment and response times.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of EMS crews, providing guidance and support as needed.
Personnel Management
- Supervise all staff
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and facilitate professional development opportunities.
- Handle personnel issues, including scheduling, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.
Compliance and Safety
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies and procedures as needed.
- Promote a culture of safety and ensure all staff adhere to safety protocols and procedures.
Quality Assurance
- Monitor and review patient care reports for quality assurance and improvement.
- Implement and oversee quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
- Address and resolve any complaints or issues related to patient care.
Equipment and Inventory Management
- Ensure all equipment and vehicles are properly maintained and ready for use.
- Manage inventory of medical supplies, medications, and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper storage.
Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in emergency medical services.
- Proven experience in operational management and staff supervision a plus.
Skills
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle high-stress situations and make quick, informed decisions.
- Proficiency in using EMS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Certifications
- Current CPR and ACLS certification.
- NJ EMT
- NREMT
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
