Valley Hospital Phoenix is seeking a talented and dynamic M.A.R.T (Music, Art, Recreation Therapy) Department Therapist to join our team of dedicated healthcare professionals!
The Music, Art & Recreation Therapies (M.A.R.T) Department Therapist is responsible for planning and implementing discipline specific therapeutic services for assigned program, which involves defining and implementing treatment goals as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and providing continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to patients.
Schedule: Sunday - Wednesday, 4 - 10 hour shifts.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively with patients and staff.
- Demonstrate safe and effective techniques when providing recreational therapy.
- Work as part of a team of health care professionals.
- Document patient's progress in treatment.
- Counsel patients regarding their mental health issues.
- Strengthen patients' cognitive, social, and physical functioning.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Music, or Recreation Therapy, or related therapeutic discipline; or a Master’s degree in Art Therapy or Occupational Therapy
- One (1) year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.
- Certification or licensure by state and/or national governing body in of the following areas: Art, Recreation, or Music Therapy, or the ability to obtain licensure or certification within the first 6 months of employment.
- Successful completion of CPR Certification prior to hire
