Job Description:
· Work statement is a non-managerial role, non-leadership role.
· As a GSE (Ground Support Equipment) Equipment Tool Designer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing moderate to complex equipment and tooling concepts to meet the stringent requirements of aerospace product design and manufacturing.
· You will actively participate in design reviews, gather design requirements, create and refine drawings and models, and explore the integration of robotics, automation, and cutting-edge technologies to enhance the build process.
· Your role will involve creating documentation, specifications, and instructions for the procurement, utilization, maintenance, and inspection of equipment and tooling. Additionally, you will provide technical support for engineering changes and discrepancies, ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Investigate and develop equipment and tooling concepts and specifications to support manufacturing needs.
- Participate in design reviews, gather design requirements, and create detailed drawings and models.
- Research and explore the application of robotics, automation, and emerging technologies to enhance manufacturing processes.
- Develop off-load packages, specifications, purchase requests, and usage instructions for equipment and tooling.
- Ensure designs comply with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and document inspection procedures, preventative maintenance plans, and user training materials for equipment and tooling.
- Provide technical support for engineering changes and discrepancies by investigating problems and analyzing data to identify solutions.
- Assess and make recommendations for the disposition of equipment and tooling.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
- 5 year min experience in equipment and tooling design, preferably in the aerospace industry.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks) and familiarity with PLM portal systems.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and fabrication techniques.
- Knowledge of robotics, automation, and emerging technologies in manufacturing.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex data.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety standards.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards applicable to aerospace manufacturing (e.g., AS9100, ASME Y14).
Education / Experience:
- Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience).
- In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
