· Daily maintenance and operational inspections of the various treatment plants and lift stations
· Daily collection of samples for compliance & process control lab analysis
· Washing and skimming of the systems process tanks to prevent surface scum build-ups
· Dewatering, cleaning and servicing of the wet wells for all the lift stations
· Removal of grit, silt and debris from the preliminary grit removal system
· Respond to resident’s requests and concerns regarding sewer backups and odors in the collection system.
· Ensure chemicals and equipment needed are in stock for the operators at the DWTP and BBWT
· Demonstrate flexibility to respond to changing situations in order to meet current needs, deadlines or tasks.
· Participate in public outreach and educational activities.
· Assist others who inspect, maintain and monitor all equipment at the City’s wastewater treatment collection, conveyance and treatment facilities; troubleshoots and makes subsequent repairs.
· Assist in the preparation of operational reports.
· Operate various types of equipment and may assist in the maintenance, operation, repair and construction of the wastewater treatment system.
· Respond to daily & after-hours emergencies relating to heavy rains, storm damage, snow, road repairs, electrical issues, water & sewer main breaks, etc.
· Provide as needed support to other Public Works necessities, including, but not limited to: streets, building, water, special events, engineering, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
· Valid Illinois Driver’s License; Class B CDL required
· Previous work experience in a Public Work environment, preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
· Computer skills using Windows, Microsoft Office applications, Internet, and Adobe Acrobat.
· Ability to multi-task and identify priorities for execution.
· Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
· Understand and follow written and oral instructions.
· Must be able to obtain a Class B CDL within 6 months of hire
· Must be able to work in a team environment and take orders from superiors
· Must comply with all Federal, State and Local Regulations for safety procedures
· Ability to perform manual labor including, but not limited to lifting, standing for an extended period of time, etc.
· Must be able to pass a drug screening, physical and background check prior to hire

Pay: $57,883.00 - $57,883.54 per year
