Job Description:
As a Technical Writer, you will play a crucial role in creating and maintaining technical documentation to support various products, systems, and processes within our organization. You will collaborate closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather information and ensure the accuracy, clarity, and usability of the documentation. This position requires strong writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to diverse audiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Document Creation: Produce a range of technical documents, including user manuals, system guides, standard operating procedures (SOPs), technical specifications, and release notes, following established documentation standards and guidelines.
Collaboration: Work closely with SMEs, software developers, engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to gather technical information and insights, ensuring that documentation accurately reflects the functionality and features of our products or systems.
Content Development: Organize and structure information logically and intuitively to create documentation that is easy to understand and navigate, taking into account the needs and preferences of the target audience.
Accuracy and Clarity: Verify the accuracy of technical content and terminology, clarifying ambiguities and inconsistencies as needed, and ensure that documentation adheres to corporate branding, style, and voice guidelines.
Review and Editing: Review documentation for grammar, spelling, punctuation, style, and formatting, and edit content as necessary to improve clarity, consistency, and readability.
Visual Communication: Develop visual aids, such as diagrams, screenshots, flowcharts, and illustrations, to complement written content and enhance comprehension, particularly for complex technical concepts.
Version Control: Maintain version control of documentation to track revisions, updates, and changes, using appropriate version control systems and tools to manage document repositories effectively.
Quality Assurance: Conduct quality assurance checks on documentation deliverables to ensure that they meet quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations before release or distribution.
Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities to enhance documentation processes, tools, and practices, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement improvements and best practices.
User Support and Training: Provide user support and training to internal teams, external partners, and end-users on how to access, navigate, and utilize technical documentation effectively, answering questions and addressing concerns as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a technical writer, preferably in a technology, software development, engineering, or IT environment.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.
- Proficiency in using documentation tools and software, such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, MadCap Flare, RoboHelp, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git), content management systems (e.g., SharePoint), and collaboration platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Slack).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team environment and build rapport with SMEs and stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented mindset, with a commitment to accuracy, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
