The Mental Illness Recovery Center (MIRCI) is a progressive Non-Profit that assists homeless individuals, adults and youth, with clinical needs and permanent housing and is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Under general supervision of the Nurse Manager, provides medical/nursing services to patients of the agency and is a member of the treatment team.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing
- Licensed to practice in the State of South Carolina
- Must have a valid South Carolina Drivers License
- Strong communication skills, customer service oriented, experienced in telephone etiquette and triage, exhibit the ability to work with people (staff, visitors, and clients) in a team focused environment.
- Previous mental health experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES NEEDED:
- Knowledge of psychopathology and patient management within a psychiatric setting.
- Ability to evaluate patients and to provide patient care.
- Knowledge of substance use disorders.
- Commitment to recovery models of patient care – both psychiatric and addictions.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with patients and clinical team members.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
- Has clinical responsibility for all clients who are receiving services from MIRCI .
- Responsible for medication records.
- Takes vital signs.
- Screens and evaluates clients. Collects urine specimens as needed.
- Receives incoming telephone calls from clients, physicians, agencies, and institutions.
- Counsels, educates, and instructs clients and staff on health issues.
- Charts the care and treatment of clients. Completes and initiates referrals in house as requested and needed.
- Maintains records and assists in the preparation of required reports.
- Assists in making appointments for clients as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Nurse Manager.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinates clinics – including doctor’s appointments and shot times.
- Opens medical records on new patients.
- Maintains medical supplies – inventory and ordering.
- Provides medication management services to patients.
