JOB SUMMARY
The responsibilities of the DOT Fleet Coordinator include providing support to our truck drivers and our Material Handling Manager. This individual will own maintenance and compliance of our fleet of trucks, trailers, and other equipment in our trucking fleet. This individual will also provide assistance to the Material Handling Manager with prioritizing and scheduling orders and ultimately dispatching drivers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES-
DOT and IFTA Compliance on Semi-Trailer Trucks

Track and Maintain annual and bi-annual DOT compliance on fleet of delivery vehicles.
- Report by-state mileage for IFTA compliance utilizing GPS tracking software installed in all vehicles.
- Assist in pulling tags, insurance cards, and other governmental identification and distributing these to fleet of drivers.

DOT Trailer Compliance

Track and maintain annual inspections and DOT Compliance on all trailers.

Coordinate repair efforts on all trailers – remove trailers from rotation until repairs/upgrades are complete and follow up on repairs in-progress.
- Structural Trailer Repairs

Coordinate structural repairs to fleet of trailers in coordination with 3rd party vendors to ensure these repairs are made in a timely manner.

Review the condition of trailers and recommend routine and preventative maintenance

Document all repairs made using Smartsheet software.
- Purchase Order Management

Properly code and issue all PO’s for trailer repairs and outsourced freight costs.
- Analyze repair costs to identify trends in fleet performance.

Scheduling and Dispatching Assistance
-
Work with Material Handling Manager to understand Scheduling/Dispatching processes and backfill when he/she is out of the office.
- General Duties

Assist with trucking fleets in Charlotte branch as needed

Repair or replace GPS and other communication devices as needed

Other duties as assigned
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED
-
Must have basic PC experience in Windows environments, working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, Web-enabled applications, and database software
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS-
Experience in trucking or material handling roles.
- Experience in a dispatch-type role (not necessarily trucking dispatch)

Forklift and/or Lull Certification

DOT/IFTA experience
- Some college experience

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT-
Work involves moderate exposure to elements, such as hot/cold temperatures, dirt, dust, and/or loud noises when visiting jobsites.
- Work environment involves rare exposure to construction-related hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
- Light physical effort. Requires handling average-weight objects up to 25 pounds and some standing, walking, or driving.
- Work requires local travel to job sites, vendor, and customer locations.
