POSITION: Controller
REPORTS TO: General Manager
Role Description
We are searching for a Controller to join our Executive Team in a full time, in person position. The Controller’s primary role is to oversee all accounting functions for the hotel and work closely with the General Manager to manage the budget and goals set forth. The Controller must be extremely organized and able to keep to a timely schedule of deadlines.
Job Description:
1. Oversee all accounting functions for the hotel
2. Prepare financial statements within the time frames supplied
3. Analyze and interpret financial results in order to assist the General Manager
4. Maintain balance sheet analysis on a monthly basis with full supporting detail
5. Prepare accurate forecasts on a monthly basis and cash flow statements on request
6. Prepare timely and accurate sales, use and occupancy tax returns as well as other external reports and returns
7. Ensure successful cash management and maintain effective system and control procedures.
8. Ensure all legal and tax documentation is properly maintained and secured, and that all statutory and fiscal reporting requirements are satisfied, which includes any governmental requirements for permits and licenses.
9. Ensure adequate controls are installed and maintained for the protection of the property's assets against loss or misappropriation.
10. Adhere to the highest ethical and business standards.
11. Establish hotel-wide systems for postings and cash handling. Work with Department Heads to ensure that the systems are being followed.
Job Requirements:
- Must have strong organizational and communications skills
- At least 5 years’ experience at a NYC Hotel property as Controller or relevant accounting position preferred
- Opera proficiency preferred
- Excel proficiency required
- Customer Service: exercises positive and warm hospitality
- Initiative: Ability to take prompt action to begin and accomplish assignments
- Teamwork: Ability to work cooperatively with managers and co-workers
- Demeanor: Ability to remain calm and professional while working under pressure
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred

Base salary compensation may vary based on skills and experience $100,000 - $110,000
