POSITION PURPOSE
The purpose of the Bartender position is to provide an exceptional level of service in the Bay Hill Club Bars in accordance with the high standards of the Bay Hill Club and Lodge. Must have a clear understanding of bar operations in the Member Lounge, Grille Room Bar and Bay Window Bar.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform duties as outlined in the Bartender Training Manual.
- Greet all arriving members/guests in a pleasant manner, using their last names, making them feel welcome and at ease.
- Ensure that all members/guests receive immediate attention and their orders are taken promptly and courteously. Ensure that guests are not ignored at any time throughout their dining experience.
- Participate in the continuous cleaning and upkeep of the bar and lounge areas.
- Ensure that workstations are properly refilled at the end of the shift and the bar area is spotless.
- Anticipate guest/members needs.
- Attend pre-meal meetings, staff meetings and training meetings as requested by the Food & Beverage Managers or Assistant Food & Beverage Director.
- Advise supervisor of any suggestions, or complaints so that they can be remedied immediately.
- Answer the telephone in a professional manner and correctly take to-go orders and make dining reservations.
- Prepare and serve cocktails and wine according to specifications prescribed by standard operating procedures.
- Keep all stock prepared and ready for use on each shift including mixes and garnishes.
- Handle cash and credit cards from guests, as well as member charges, as defined in the standard operating procedures.
- Use the proper garnishes, china, and glassware for all beverages.
- Open Lounge, ensuring that the area is clean and accommodating at all times, in accordance with quality standards.
- Take orders and serve beverages professionally and courteously, eliminating members serving themselves.
- Handle any problems that may arise with finesse and professionalism.
- Ring up all sales on the register and properly maintain guest checks as set by Club policy.
- Ensure that only authorized individuals are behind the bar.
- Know, understand and practice local, state and federal laws related to serving alcoholic beverages.
- Ensure that only individuals who meet the age requirements and club membership requirements are served in the bar.
- Advise the Dining Room Coordinator or Manager On Duty immediately of anyone who may be intoxicated. Ensure that those clearly intoxicated are not served.
- Operate under the guidelines, policies, standards and procedures outlined by the Bay Hill Club.
- Maintain responsibility for bar stock inventory control on daily basis.
- Make sure the bar area is clean and all lights are off when the shift is completed.
- Organize, clean and maintain the liquor and wine rooms. Restock at the end of each shift.
- Perform any other duties that may be required by management from time to time.

Regular attendance is expected in conformance with the standards established by The Bay Hill Club & Lodge. Your attendance is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Due to the cyclical nature of the club/resort business, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the club.
Upon employment all employees are required to fully comply with The Bay Hill Club & Lodge rules and regulations for the safe, efficient operation of the club. Employees who violate club rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS EDUCATION Any combination of education or experience equivalent to the graduation of high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform to the position standards. High school diploma preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Previous customer service/bartending experience in a hospitality food & beverage operation preferred.

TOOLS, MACHINE AND EQUIPMENT USED
Bar equipment, point of sale computer.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to lift 50-75 pounds, able to bend, push, pull, kneel, and stretch. Must be able to endure long periods of standing and walking.
GROOMING
All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards determined by department).
