The Johnson City Country Club is looking to recruit observant lifeguards to ensure the safety of visitors to our aquatic facility. Lifeguards will explain safety rules to patrons, warn them about unsafe situations, and enforce policies as set by management. You will play an instrumental role in maintaining orderliness by inspecting swimming pool areas, locker rooms, and restrooms. You will maintain pool equipment, and monitor and record pool temperatures.
To ensure success you need to assess situations swiftly and make judicious decisions regarding the safety of swimmers. Top candidates are excellent communicators, swift, and safety-minded.
Lifeguard Responsibilities:
- Overseeing activities at an aquatic facility.
- Assisting with swimming lessons.
- Explaining and enforcing rules, regulations, and policies to ensure the safety of patrons.
- Monitoring designated areas to recognize signs of danger.
- Warning swimmers regarding unsafe situations.
- Maintaining order in swimming areas.
- Keeping chairs out of the walk path.
- Make sure no one is eating IN the pool.
- Make sure bathrooms are clean and stocked.
- Maintaining inspections, cleanliness, and orderliness of all pool facilities and equipment including but not limited to restrooms, lifeguard stations, locker rooms, chairs, umbrellas, etc.
- Maintaining records and reports.
- Monitor weather conditions and open/close the pool as necessary or based on scheduled hours in conjunction with other club managers.
- Attend staff meetings per request of supervisor.
- Establishing and maintain satisfactory working relationships with the members and employees.
- Have outstanding attitude towards members throughout your shifts.
- Participate in any clean up around the pool.
- Rule Enforcement and determined by management.
- Supervise all swimming activities at the pool and ensure that policies, guidelines and safety procedures are being followed, as determined by management.
- Responding to emergencies and rescuing swimmers in danger of drowning.
- Performing and/or administering first aid procedures.
- Complete necessary paperwork at the conclusion of all rescues and accidents.
Lifeguard Requirements:
- 18 years of age or older.
- Completion of Lifeguard training. If not currently certified, the club will reimburse the cost of certification provided certain criteria are met.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- AED certification preferred.
- Proficient communication skills.
- Proficient in interacting with people of various ages from diverse backgrounds.
- Available to work shifts.
- Physically fit, strong, agile, and dexterous.
$12-$14 per hour starting pay depending on experience and availability.
Bonuses are provided at the conclusion of the season provided certain criteria are met.
