Job description
Our family has been in the coffee business in Oakland for nearly 45 years. During that time, we've built a wholesale brand revered for its commitment to tradition, quality, and authenticity. After all these years, we finally decided to open our first retail coffee bar. We decided to do it right here in the heart of Downtown Oakland, at 11th and Broadway. We've created something special. We've taken all of our years of experience, inspired by the coffee culture of Italy and the United States, and combined them in one space. It's unique and unlike anything else in the Bay.
We're looking for a hard-working, motivated, and self-driven person to join our opening team as a BARISTA. Experience is a plus but is not required. Working in a coffee shop may not be your final destination. However, we hope we can help you sharpen your existing skills and develop new skills you can carry forward throughout your lives, no matter the endeavor.
Responsibilities:
- Serving customers food and beverages in a friendly, courteous, and efficient manner.
- Working multiple positions between greeting/helping customers at the bar, preparing and serving coffee/espresso drinks, and food prep.
- Preparing food and beverages precisely according to recipes and standards.
- Maintaining a clean and organized workspace at all times.
- Perform all required tasks and functions to operate a high volume and high functioning coffee shop, i.e., customer service, cash/credit card processing, opening/closing duties, drink prep, food prep, re-stocking, cleaning, etc.
- Drink coffee, and care about the quality of our products, the people you work with, and the customers and community we serve.
- Comply with health and safety regulations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of working in a coffee shop or restaurant
- Food Handler's Certificate
- Must thrive on a challenge, constantly desire improvement, and learn something new every day
- Must enjoy the thrill of powering through a rush and then re-stocking and re-setting just to do it all again.
- Must be hospitable and deliver excellent and efficient customer service in an authentic and confident way.
- Must care about operating at a high level.
- Must hustle, multi-task, and help multiple customers simultaneously while minimizing wasted time.
- Ability to receive constructive feedback and mentoring. Not afraid to ask questions and not afraid to acknowledge mistakes.

- Must be able to shift priorities and adapt on the fly.
