Job Summary
- Academic Support: Provide individualized and group tutoring sessions for students in grades 6–12 across various subjects, ensuring comprehension and academic success.
- Bilingual Instruction: Utilize bilingual skills to support Spanish-speaking students, ensuring they receive equitable educational opportunities.
- Curriculum Development: Assist in developing and implementing educational programs tailored to the needs of students, particularly those in recovery or dealing with behavioral health challenges.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct regular assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
- Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, counselors, and other staff to create a supportive and inclusive educational environment.
- Mentorship: Serve as a mentor and role model, promoting positive behavior and academic achievement.
- Cultural Competence: Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and inclusivity in all interactions with students and their families.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
- Certification: Valid Florida teacher's license.
- Language Proficiency: Bilingual in Spanish and English; proficiency in both languages is required.
- Experience: Previous experience working with adolescents, particularly in educational or behavioral health settings, is preferred.
- Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Behavioral Health: Experience working with students dealing with substance use and behavioral health issues.
- Cultural Competence: Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations, particularly within the Latino community.
Working Conditions
- Environment: The position will be based in a school setting, with occasional travel to community centers or other educational facilities as needed.
- Schedule: Full-time, 12-month contract with standard school hours and occasional after-school or weekend activities.
