The Junior AV Systems Engineer will report to the Director of Classroom Engineering and be responsible for the audio/visual infrastructure and lighting of the University and its classrooms and event venues.
Essential duties:
Provide support engineering, control system programming, installation, maintenance, and technical performance for all University operated audio/visual/lighting systems.
Maintain and repair all audiovisual systems as well as determine when outside repair is warranted to perform the required maintenance or repairs.
Support the primary administrator over network-based audio/visual/lighting systems including monitoring all audio/visual/lighting systems, performing routine software/hardware updates, consulting with manufacturing technicians, and making necessary field repairs.
Report on the various systems to track usage and monitor maintenance schedules and repairs.
Participate in the planning of AV installations, events, and other University audio/visual/lighting/production needs.
Provide training and supervision to assigned Media Services student workers and graduate assistants.
Maintain and manage inventory of the University media equipment.
Oversee the instruction of audiovisual equipment and systems in technology-equipped rooms.
Recommend purchases and repairs of audiovisual equipment/systems and supplies as needed.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 1-3 years of experience with using standard audiovisual equipment in an academic or related environment required; preference given to candidates having more than three years of experience
Formal training with industry certification or the ability to demonstrate equivalent practical experience required
Must be willing to accommodate a varied work week with the ability to work the occasional evening or weekend if required
Must have a working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software for reports, graphics, and statistics
Must be able to occasionally climb ladders, move equipment, and lift equipment of 50-75 lbs
