Our large, fast-growing medical services client is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to add to their leadership team. The Accounting Manager is a crucial leadership role tasked with overseeing the Accounts Payable function and managing the accounting team. This position ensures the accuracy, efficiency, and compliance of accounts payable processes and supports the overall financial operations of the organization.

Accounting Manager Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable Management:
- Supervise the accounts payable process, including invoice processing and vendor payments, ensuring adequate liquidity.
- Guarantee the accuracy and completeness of all accounts payable transactions, including proper coding, approval, and documentation.
- Implement and uphold controls to prevent errors, fraud, and duplicate payments.
- Address vendor inquiries and discrepancies promptly and professionally.
Team Leadership/Management:
- Lead, supervise, and mentor the accounting team, including accounts payable staff and other accounting personnel.
- Provide direction, guidance, and support to team members, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Delegate tasks effectively, monitor workloads, and ensure deadlines are met.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify training and development opportunities.
Financial Reporting & General Accounting:
- Assist in preparing and analyzing financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports (as needed).
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data related to accounts payable and general ledger transactions.
- Collaborate with other departments to reconcile accounts payable-related accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Offer insightful commentary and recommendations based on financial analysis to senior management.
- Reconcile specific balance sheet accounts and make appropriate journal entries.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounts payable processes and enhance efficiency.
- Implement best practices and standard operating procedures to optimize workflow and reduce cycle times.
- Utilize technology and automation tools to improve accuracy and productivity within the accounts payable function.
Compliance and Internal Controls:
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and accounting standards.
- Establish and maintain internal controls to ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits and ensure regulatory compliance.
Tax Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and filing requirements, including income, sales, and payroll tax.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors to facilitate tax planning and compliance.
Audit Support:
- Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors during financial audits.
- Prepare audit schedules, support documentation, and respond to auditor inquiries promptly.
Accounting Manager Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, with experience in the healthcare or medical waste industry preferred.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven leadership abilities, with experience in managing a team and driving results in a fast-paced environment.
- Certification (e.g., Certified Accounts Payable Professional, Certified Public Accountant) is a plus.
