Exciting, growing company in Louisville, Kentucky, that designs, manufactures and installs large parcel conveyor and material handling systems, seeks an individual that is motivated and will take ownership of their work. This position works with our customers and or vendors to ensure a smooth flow of operations within the mechanical engineering department by optimizing customer and engineering designs that maximize efficiency and effectiveness. This role will focus on the mechanical project side of the business, but will also have an influence on the manufacturing side.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
· Responsible for the mechanical engineering as well as equipment procurement for material handling projects
· Taking the engineering lead role on large, intricate conveyor projects
· Communicating with customers and the internal project team
· Preparing mechanical engineering drawings, layouts and schematics using AutoCAD software
· Selecting materials for the engineered systems and creating Bills of Material
· Tracking and communicating the project engineering schedule to others in the department
· Tracking, communicating, and managing the project costs
· Consult and coordinate with suppliers to fulfill project needs
· Checks own work as well as that of others
· Support project managers in preparing project start up materials and in planning and coordinating pre-construction and construction efforts
· Assist project installers with questions as they arise from the field
· Mentor and direct less experienced engineers
· Manage change requests
· Preparing, managing and implementing project close out procedures
· Develop equipment manifests
· Assist with project proposals

Basic Qualifications and skills:
· Bachelor of Science in an Engineering field or an equivalent level of experience
· Multiple years of related experience as a mechanical project engineer
· Computer proficiency and the ability to adapt to new innovations and processes
· Proficient in AutoCAD and MS office products
· Functions effectively as part of a team
· Strong written, communication, and problem-solving skills
· Demonstrates good management and leadership skills
· Excellent time management and organizational skills
· Experience with equipment selection
· Works independently with minimal direction
· General understanding of the conveyor industry
· Ready and willing to learn new skills to enhance their career growth
· Ability to travel – 5% of the time
· Structural steel design experience is a plus
· Estimating skills are a plus
