JOB SUMMARY
In this position, the Referral Coordinator performs a wide range of administrative duties to support referral processing, including verification of patient demographics and benefits, assistance with insurance authorizations, appointment scheduling, communication with referral sources and other tasks as assigned.
The incumbent will serve as a point of contact with clinicians, and other medical personnel to ensure the referral process runs efficiently.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinates and processes patient referrals to completion with precision, detail, and accuracy.

Ensures that Referrals have been sent to specialist office & confirmed receipt.

Conducts proper investigation into pending status of referrals within a timely manner.

Maintains confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines in regard to patient information.

Schedule appointments for patient consultations, procedures and visits to medical facility

Team-oriented with the ability to work extremely well with members, colleagues, physicians, and other personnel in a professional and courteous manner.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or equivalent.

A minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience in customer service, patient referrals, and/or insurance verification.

Healthcare experience in a clinical setting.

Knowledge of various electronic health record documentation systems preferred.

Bilingual in English/Spanish is highly preferred.
EDUCATION

High School Diploma or equivalent.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES
-
Healthcare experience in a clinical setting, preferably within the Medicaid population is a plus.

Knowledge of various electronic health record documentation systems preferred.

Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, HCPCS and ICD coding desired.

Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task. Must be open to cross-functionally training.
