JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and coordinate key campaigns for ENDGBV – such as Domestic Violence Awareness
Month (DVAM), 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, and Sexual Violence
Awareness Month (SVAM). Identify new campaigns or initiatives for ENDGBV participation.
- Uplift the work of the office and ensure consistent and constant media/press stories of our
office’s work and programmatic initiatives, especially as it relates to wider City and Mayoral
initiatives and announcements by:
o Establishing and maintaining relationships with local, state, and national press, partner
agencies, and other stakeholders to develop innovative opportunities that promote
ENDGBV’s mission, with a focus on cultural and immigrant media outlets.
o Writing, editing, and pitching press releases, media advisories, op-eds, speeches,
presentations, and other external and internal communications that raise ENDGBV’s
visibility and enhance its brand, reputation, and voice.
o Planning and implementing ENDGBV communications strategy; making decisions about
what to promote, working with the Mayor’s Press Office to fit into overall strategy, and
carrying out in timely, effective, and well-ordered fashion.
o Working with teams across ENDGBV to elevate press needs.
o Managing events and communications related to special events, such as Family Justice
Center site visits and press conferences. Attending events, set-ups, and walkthroughs in
person.
o Arranging interviews with senior administration officials, including ENDGBVs
Commissioner, Deputy Commissioners, and potentially Mayor Adams, and staff those
interviews.
- Manage the team’s development of public-facing content such as outreach, promotional
materials, website, social media, and other communications collateral in line with the City’s
language access and accessibility standards, ENDGBV campaigns and operations, current events,
etc.
- Prepare presentations and background material for the ENDGBV commissioner and other key
staff.
- Support processes for reviewing, flagging, and distributing relevant press and media hits to City
Hall and ENDGBV staff to increase awareness and understanding of current events, policy, and
announcements related to our work.
- Attending regularly scheduled staff meetings and on-going trainings.
- Represent ENDGBV on relevant task forces, workgroups, and committees as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
