Position: Development and Communications Coordinator

Mat-Su Senior Services (MSSS) promote independence, security, and quality of life for seniors and other eligible individuals in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough with respect, trust, and compassion.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Fund Development
- In partnership with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), develop and execute a cost-effective and broad-based fundraising program to secure general operating support from individuals, corporations, foundations and organizations
- Work with CEO, Board and staff to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward current and prospective donors
- Identify major gift prospects and coordinate personal meetings with the CEO, and assist with ongoing follow-up and requests for support
- Promote and increase Volunteer opportunities
- Manage current grant funders and conduct prospect research and outreach to identify and engage with potential grant funders
- Draft appeal letters and other fundraising- and marketing-related publications
- Manage current donations and cultivate future donations, both monetary and in-kind, as well as increasing visibility, increasing donor retention, and increasing funding/donors
- Identify new corporate partners and work with the CEO to expand corporate relationships
- Plan and cultivation of events.
- Oversee donor data management efforts, ensuring data entry is accurate and comprehensive and that acknowledgement letters are turned around within a 48-hour window
Communications
- Prepare and implement a communications and marketing plan that incorporates social media, paid and earned media, direct mail and advertising to increase public awareness about MSSS
- Work with CEO and staff to maintain a visually appealing and user-friendly website, Facebook and Instagram accounts and monthly newsletters that promote MSSS services, programs and events
- Conduct outreach to media contacts with focus on securing earned media opportunities
- Explore and possibly pursue opportunities for paid media
- Oversee an annual anniversary event and at least one additional large fundraiser event.
- Assist in the production an annual report at the conclusion of each fiscal year
- Write copy for public presentations by CEO and/or board members
Additional
- Mange all marketing MSSS material to ensure its relevant and engaging.
- Manage the Events Committees to ensure committee members have a clearly defined strategy and the tools necessary to execute on that strategy.
- Attend and participate in community meetings and other off-site activities as requested.
- Promote increased membership and community through an intentional marketing strategies.
- Manage all facility rentals
Essential Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in business administration and/or marketing preferred
· Track record of success in building fundraising programs and achieving annual fundraising goals
· Experience in cost-effective management of fundraising events and programs is preferred
· Proven ability to maintain poise and to manage multiple assignments efficiently
· Ability to build partnerships and gain consensus with co-workers, volunteer leaders and peers
· Highly organized and detail-oriented
· Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, CRM databases, and social media
· Must be able to pass a background check. Must provide references

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of conditions at work sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
Physical Demands
The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Evening and weekend work frequently may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area travel may be expected.
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma
- Valid driver’s license
- 2 years fundraising/events experience.

Must be able to pass a background check.
