Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Farm Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our farm in Colfax, IN. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in livestock management, particularly with lambs, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for sustainable farming practices. Additionally, experience in maintaining and cleaning cabins is essential. The Farm Manager will also be responsible for overseeing the Cabins & Candlelight property, ensuring it is well-maintained and clean.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee all farm operations related to livestock, with a primary focus on lambs.
- Develop and implement care plans and schedules to optimize the health and productivity of the lambs.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Supervise and train farm staff, ensuring they follow best practices and safety guidelines.
- Monitor and manage farm budgets, expenses, and resources.
- Maintain accurate records of farm activities, livestock health, and financial transactions.
- Oversee the maintenance and cleaning of cabins, ensuring they are in excellent condition for guests.
- Manage the Cabins & Candlelight property, ensuring it is well-maintained and clean for visitors.
- Coordinate with other departments, such as sales and marketing, to align farm operations with business goals.
- Implement and promote sustainable farming practices to enhance livestock health and welfare.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in agriculture, animal science, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in farm management or a related role, with a focus on livestock.
- Strong knowledge of livestock production techniques, particularly with lambs.
- Experience in maintaining and cleaning cabins.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to manage budgets and financial records.
- Proficiency in farm management software and tools.
- Commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly farming practices.
- Valid driver's license.
