JOB DESCRIPTION: SURGICAL COORDINATOR
JOB SUMMARY
Assists in surgery scheduling, counseling of patients and completion of associated forms and certifications.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Greet patients in prompt, professional and personable manner.

As appropriate, assists in screening patient phone calls or walk-ins and answering patient questions.

Schedules all office and hospital surgery with pre-op and post-op follow up appointments. Prepares consent forms for patient signature for specific surgical procedures.

Counsel patients regarding surgery and surgical insurance; both in office and by telephone. Initiates financial arrangements for patients when necessary.

ASC schedules and paperwork are submitted accurately and in a timely manner.

Ledgers are completed accurately and in a timely manner.

De-escalate issues regarding upset or dissatisfied patients.

Contacts patients and assures their compliance with pre-op orders.

Professionally inform patients about co-pays, referral, payment policies and location information.

Communicate effectively and demonstrates professionalism with referring doctors.

Remain current on staff and physician schedules.
-
Manages and prioritizes multiple tasks.
-
Performs other job-related tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

High School graduate or equivalent
-
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in an ophthalmic practice.

Demonstrates high standards of professionalism and ethics.

Overall knowledge of medical terminology.

Experience in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
