Control Systems Engineer
We are in need of a skilled control systems engineer located in Sugar Land, TX, responsible for the programming, configuration, documentation, testing, and commissioning of various control systems, especially DeltaV systems.
- B.S. in Engineering with at least 5 years of relevant work experience, or a combination of education and experience
- Extensive experience and proficiency in programming DeltaV Distributed Control Systems
- Strong knowledge of Modbus, Ethernet/IP, and OPC communications protocols
- Good understanding of control panels, panel wiring drawings, and field wiring diagrams
- Proficient in interpreting and creating P&IDs, including:
a. Ability to contribute to the development of new P&IDs
b. Ability to evaluate and analyze existing P&IDs
c. Ability to create Instrument & I/O Lists from P&IDs
- Familiarity with ISA tagging conventions
- Experience and proficiency in programming other platforms:
a. PLCs (preferably Allen-Bradley)
b. HMIs (preferably Inductive Automation Ignition, AVEVA/Wonderware System Platform, Rockwell FactoryTalk View, GE iFIX)
c. Others (Omni Flow Computer, ROC, Load Metering Devices)
- Ability to develop operational and technical manuals, including training guides, HMI manuals, and operating procedures
- Knowledgeable in Electrical Protection Relays
- Knowledgeable in Historian systems
- Knowledgeable in external notification systems (text, email, mobile app, etc.)
- Familiarity with DeviceNet and/or Profibus communications protocols
- Contributes to the development of logic diagrams, cause & effect matrices, and functional narratives
- Assists in the development and/or review of control panel design packages, field wiring diagrams, conduit & cable schedules, and associated E&I package deliverables
- Attends field verification and user requirements gathering walkdowns
- Develops DCS/PLC/HMI programming
- Conducts factory acceptance testing
- Performs field start-up and commissioning, including troubleshooting support
- Contributes to and participates in client training
- Provides after-hours support for internal/external clients as needed
- Collaborates with Senior Engineering Lead(s) and Project Manager(s) to ensure deliverable quality and adherence to budget, and provides regular progress updates
- Requires approximately 25% travel, including air travel
