Responsibilities:
- Plan machining operations by studying work orders, blueprints, and engineering plans; interpret GD&T.
- Manage stock inventory by checking levels, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipts.
- Program CNC mills by entering instructions, setting tool registers, offsets, and switches; calculate requirements and prove part programs.
- Set up mills by installing and adjusting chucks, tools, attachments, and other components.
- Load feed mechanisms by positioning stock.
- Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run parts, and sample workpieces.
- Maintain specifications by observing processes, taking measurements, troubleshooting, adjusting controls, and replacing tools.
- Ensure safe operations by following safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting malfunctions.
- Document actions by completing production and quality logs.
- Update job knowledge through educational opportunities and technical reading.
- Contribute to organizational goals by accepting new tasks and exploring value-added opportunities.
- Adhere to safety policies, use PPE, and maintain good housekeeping.
- Maintain regular attendance and adhere to company policies and standards.
- Apply training knowledge, skills, and abilities consistently in a quality-oriented manner.
- Perform other tasks as directed.
Qualifications
- High School diploma and completion of Journeyman CNC Machinist apprenticeship, including classroom coursework and four (4) years experience in set-up, operation, and optimizing CNC vertical and horizontal machine centers.
- Experienced setting up and programming CNC machines
- Full understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Basic CNC programming skills and ability to operate and troubleshoot a wide variety of CNC machines.
- Ability to read prints, diagrams, and use micrometers, verniers, calipers, and gauges.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to walk, remain on feet for extended periods, reach, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 35 pounds as needed.
