Job Summary
The Night Assistant Fleet Manager reports to and assists the Commercial Fleet Manager with the night operations of the Vehicle Maintenance Department. This position performs a variety of routine and complex administrative, technical, and professional work in analyzing and administering various components of the Maintenance Department and extending the life of our assets. The Night Assistant Fleet Manager ensures that the company’s high standards of safety are reflected in the appearance and condition of our equipment and facilities.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to Motivate, develop, and direct people as they work; secure their commitment to the department and company goals.
- Ability to manage one's own time and the time of others.
- Ability to apply knowledge in multiple areas of vehicle repair including but not limited to the following systems: drive line, suspension systems, welding, body repair, cooling systems, transmissions, axles, rear end assemblies, brake systems and electrical systems.
- Ability to drive in a safe, competent manner a vehicle that is 27 feet to 40 feet in length as well as a pull car and up to 2 articulating trailers that are 60 feet to 70 feet in length on company property.
- Ability to watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
- Shall be able to read, write and speak fluent English in order to communicate with fellow CASTmembers and the general public.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and difficult people both in person and via the radio while maintaining a professional and pleasant demeanor.
- Shall be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to work in cramped spaces and under a vehicle while lying on your back , lift, lower and carry items that typically weigh 25 – 50 pounds without assistance and 75 pounds with assistance, varying distances.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- 1-3 years supervisory experience preferred.
- ASE or comparable certifications required: Auto Brakes and Preventative Maintenance Inspection.
- Additional ASE Certifications and ASE Master Certifications preferred.
Other Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record for the past three years.
- CDL Class B or higher preferred
- Must pass a DOT physical upon employment.
- Must supply own hand tools and toolboxes. Tools must meet or exceed minimum tool list.
Successful candidate must pass a drug test and a background search
