The Business Technology Services’ Division of Infrastructure Services is seeking a highly motivated and directed, forward-thinking, problem-solving professional IT Manager of Server & Storage to lead our specialized Server and Storage Team. Our Server and Storage team is responsible for cross agency network environment in support of critical systems for our employees and citizens, with minimal downtime. As the IT Manager of Server & Storage, you would perform professional highly technical work which requires advanced analytical and technical assignments serving our infrastructure teams, Pinellas County affiliates, departments, and organizations to assist with maintaining and growing technologies and ensuring business value outcomes.
The IT Manager of Server & Storage is responsible for overseeing the organization's server and storage infrastructure, including Office 365, Linux, virtualization technologies, Windows systems, and storage solutions. This role requires a deep technical understanding of server and storage management, strong leadership skills, and the ability to ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of the IT infrastructure. This position is responsible for task assignments, tactical oversight, strategic planning, project management, and facilitating and coordinating with other sections and functional areas, supervises subordinate supervisors and non-supervisory personnel. The position is responsible for creating, initiating, performing, and managing a variety of professional and technical tasks and activities in support of operational initiative.
What Would You Do?
- Infrastructure Management: Oversee the management, maintenance, and support of the organization's server and storage infrastructure, including Office 365, Linux, Windows, virtualization technologies, and storage systems.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of IT professionals, providing guidance, performance evaluations, and career development opportunities.
- Project Management: Plan and execute IT projects related to server and storage infrastructure, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required standards.
- System Administration: Ensure the reliable operation, performance, and security of server and storage systems, including patch management, system updates, and monitoring.
- Virtualization Management: Manage virtualization technologies, such as VMware, Hyper-V or similar, ensuring optimal performance, resource allocation, and scalability.
- Office 365 Administration: Oversee the administration and support of Office 365, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Teams.
- Linux and Windows Systems: Manage and support both Linux and Windows servers, ensuring they meet the organization's operational and security standards.
- Storage Solutions: Oversee the management and maintenance of storage solutions, including SAN, NAS, and cloud storage, ensuring data availability, integrity, and security.
- Disaster Recovery and Backup: Develop and implement disaster recovery and backup strategies to ensure business continuity and data protection.
- Security and Compliance: Ensure server and storage infrastructure complies with security policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with vendors and service providers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services and support.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage the budget for the server and storage infrastructure, ensuring cost-effective solutions and resource allocation.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of the server and storage infrastructure, including configurations, processes, and procedures. Provide regular reports on system performance, issues, and project status.
- Multitasking: Create, prioritize, organize, delegate, automate, and assign both professional and technical tasks and activities, monitoring progress while setting realistic goals.
What Do You Need To Have?
Professional experience managing technical staff for (10) or more years including (1) or more of the following:
- IT architecture and design, infrastructure support, enterprise server technology; or
- Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related technical field and (8) years’ experience described above. Including (1) year of formal supervisory and training experience over many subordinate technical staff; or
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related technical field and (6) years’ experience described above. Including (1) year of formal supervisory and training experience over many subordinate technical staff; or
- Master’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Information technology, Business Administration, or related field, and (2) years of experience as described above. Including (1) year of formal supervisory and training experience over many subordinate technical staff; or
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. Including (1) year of formal supervisory and training experience over many subordinate technical staff.
- Possession and maintenance of a valid State of Florida Driver's License.
- Must successfully obtain and maintain Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Privilege Role - CJIS Security & Awareness Certification.
- Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Relevant certifications such as (Microsoft Certified Windows Server) are preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of information technology, analysis, and design procedures to correctly develop effective and efficient applications.
- Knowledge of and experience with Cloud technologies like AWS and MS Azure
- Knowledge of application development, data administration, system architecture, data architecture, and data modeling.
- Knowledge of and experience with Change management frameworks like ITIL
- Knowledge of business requirements and workflows to tailor applications to the stakeholder’s specific needs and satisfaction.
- Knowledge of research techniques, methods, and procedures to develop best practices and resolve technical issues.
- Skill to conduct research, perform systems analysis and design in a timely manner, and ability to intake large amounts of data to identify technology that will contribute to maximum efficiency and effectiveness for Pinellas County business systems.
- Skill in public speaking and ability to communicate technical information orally and in writing to county officials, and to market propositions to customers.
- Strong communication, analytical, facilitating and leadership skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate a highly skilled technical staff; establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, fellow employees, citizens, and others.
