Development & Implementation
- Lead staff in executing the mission and vision of the 21st Century Horizons Youth Program grounded in youth development principles
- Supervise the design and development of all lesson plans. Ensure curriculum content are aligned with New York State Education standard.
- Design and develop program policies and procedure. Prepare and annually update the Program Manual, Parent Manual, Attendance sheets, and other documents as necessary
- Perform performance evaluations and develop professional development plans for the staff to ensure the program maintains a high level of quality.
- Monitor enrollment, disenrollment, and rate of participation
- Leads professional development, staff meetings, and trainings for staff as needed
- Develop training activities that will effectively train Group Leaders and Activity
- Provide in-class support and coaching to Group Leaders and Activity Specialist using designated curricula, including coaching on teaching strategies
- Coordinate NYC School Food Program to ensure that students are provided with snack during the afterschool program and with breakfast and lunch during the summer camp.
- Coordinate with school Custodial Engineer to ensure that the program has the appropriate building permits to operate.
- Ensure Compliance with SACC and DYCD regulations
- Assure safety and supervision of children at all times,
- Develop and maintain a schedule of academic, recreational and enrichment activities.
- Manages program evaluation process and assessment procedures for the program, including surveys of students, staff, and parents.
- Reschedule staff hours to accommodate minimum days, shortened days, pupil free days, holidays and summer.
- Coordinate school closing day notices when program is operational; monitor sign-up activities for these days; determine staff availability and staff schedule for these days; delegate preparation of program planning for these days to staff; organize field trips for these days including location, cost, transportation, permission slips and other matters.

- Monitor and follow-up on incident, child abuse, and other program reports
- Set up and maintain data in DYCD Computer Systems as required
Communication
- Work closely with Education Specialist, Director of Family Support Services, and Assistant Site Director to: (1) Identify students and coordinate student outreach for the Program. (2) Align activities with the regular school day. (3) Implement evaluation tools.
- Tracks the progress of the program and individual students and provides progress reports to parents, schools and the sponsoring organization.
- Contact parents regarding participant behavior and progress. Respond to message from parents promptly.
Recruitment, Coordination, and Collaboration
- Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, and training of all staff.
- Recruit and enroll program participants to meet established average daily attendance requirements.
- Attend partner school staff meetings to provide information and updates on Program.
Fiscal Management
- Responsible for the financial management of the program, in terms of budgeting, purchasing and accounts payable.
- Manages expenses, ensuring quality program implementation within budgetary limits.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) and two years experience working with elementary/middle school age children in an organized setting.
- At least one year’s experience managing a team
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Energy, leadership skills, strong initiative, ability to motivate through positive reinforcement
- Availability to work with some flexibility for occasional evening or weekend events
- Medical/TB test clearance
- Background Screening Clearance
