The FY2024 Fire Department Step Plan can be accessed here. Applicants hired who already hold the Paramedic certification will be hired at step 1 of the Paramedic pay range. Applicants hired who are a Firefighter/EMT or who are working to obtain Paramedic certification will be hired at step 1 of the EMT pay range and will move to the Paramedic pay range once certification is obtained.

Recruitment Process:
1. Online Application - deadline is 07/15/2024 at 5:00pm CST
2. Physical Agility Examination - tentatively scheduled for 07/17/2024 and 07/18/2024
- Applicants who pass the preliminary background check will receive an email invitation to take the physical agility examination. Only applicants who are invited will be allowed to sit for the examination.
- Candidates will be able to schedule individual dates and times to test, if invited.

- Personal History Statement packets will be issued at the time of the physical agility examination. The packet must be filled out correctly and completely and will not be accepted past the deadline, which will be specified at a later date.
3. Panel Interview - tentatively scheduled for 07/29/2024 and 07/30/2024
- If you are selected to interview, you will participate in a 20-30 minute interview with a panel of current Firefighters and Fire Officers. Candidates are ranked by the results of this panel.
4. Background Investigation
- A thorough investigation will be conducted based on the responses from your interview, Personal History Statement packet, and reference checks.
5. In-home Chief's Interview - tentatively scheduled for the week of 08/12/2024
- A Chief Officer from the department will interview you in your home.
6. Fire Chief's Interview - tentatively scheduled for the week of 08/19/2024
- Interview with the Fire Chief and Assistant Fire Chiefs
- Original copies of certain documentation must be provided for verification purposes.
- Conditional offer of employment contingent upon medical examination
