Mt. Bachelor strives to deliver Central Oregon’s most memorable outdoor adventures to locals and out-of-town visitors on a year-round basis. Mt. Bachelor’s 365 days of fun includes 4,300 acres of lift-accessible terrain for skiing and snowboarding, Woodward Mountain Parks, a world-class Nordic Center, summer and fall downhill biking in the Mt. Position Summary:
Trail maintenance is physical labor. It involves working with hand tools, outside, in a mountain environment, and getting dirty is guaranteed. Summer Trail Maintenance also involves riding the trails to determine what repairs are needed but only after a skills evaluation has been completed by a supervisor. When you are not maintaining the trails, you will assist other departments as needed. The anticipated job start is dependent on snowmelt and workload for the summer.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
Use hand tools such as Pulaski, shovel, mattix, grub hoe, and rock bars to repair and maintain trails of rock and dirt.
Ability to take direction from the trail crew supervisors.
Ability to perform strenuous physical activities in steep terrain for extended periods of time in adverse weather conditions and exposure to insects.
Follow all outlined safety rules and demonstrate high standards for personal and team safety.
Demonstrate a positive attitude toward the workplace, co-workers, and supervisors.
Be on time; ready and willing to work hard.
Trail signage installation & maintenance.
Monitor weather for cutting and equipment operations.
Perform general maintenance to any equipment used related to the bike park.
Perform re-vegetation work.
Be available to work bike park-related events.
Riding on the clock is prohibited without skills evaluation.
Secondary Function:
Assist with ongoing mountain trash cleanup efforts.
Assist if needed with Mt Bachelor events not related to bike park operations.
Assist patrol with any extractions from the trail system.
Assist in any other operations requested by the Terrain Park / Bike Park Manager.
Assist in any other operations requested by the Director of Mountain Operations.
Job Scope:
Must be at the job site on time each day, and must come prepared to work. Must follow the instructions of the supervisor on duty.
Interpersonal Contacts:
Work closely with other trail crew team members, trail crew supervisors, and trail contractors.
Specific Job Skills:
License/Certifications: First Aid a plus
Technical: General knowledge of hand tools
Physical Capabilities: Walk uphill carrying 50lbs + of gear and tools. Able to work hard physical labor for 10 hours a day. Able to work outside in a summer mountain environment. Intermediate Mountain Bike riding skills.

In addition to the specific conditions below, every position at Mt. Bachelor requires the ability to shovel snow, lift up to 10 pounds, and walk on steep and uneven surfaces.
While performing the duties of this role, the employee will be required to frequently bend, reach, climb, lift over 50 pounds, and stand for prolonged periods of time. Additionally, the position will require frequent outdoor exposure in various conditions, including extreme heat and sun exposure. This position also requires intermediate mountain biking skills.
Current hiring rate: $16.50 (non-exempt, hourly role)
