Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducts and performs full range of physic/chemical laboratory analyses to ensure high quality of raw and finished materials and products
- Verifies critical control points for processing of milk and syrup products
- Focuses technical abilities to operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments as well as maintains all test results and information
- Performs equipment checks and calibrations
- Performs microbiological and chemical analysis on finished product samples in accordance with protocol, evaluating and notifying supervisor when results are out of specification
- Conducts line inspection on all manufactured products
- Collects required number of samples for microbiological and chemical testing
- Collects samples for testing from storage
- Sorts, organizes, classifies and labels samples
- Maintains retention inventory by verifying and maintaining sample inventory pulled
- Maintains testing materials, supplies and equipment solutions as well as standards, controls, solvents and silica
- Collects and tests necessary water samples
- Labels, packs and prepares paperwork for outgoing samples to outside laboratories
- Maintains comprehensive records of all testing
- Keeps laboratory environment safe and clean by following plant safety, environmental and OSHA policies/ standards when working
- Works in a standardized manner to ensure efficiency of testing methods
- Maintains the GMPs and work safety for employees
Qualifications / Education / Experience / Skills:
- 0 to 2+ years quality control/quality assurance working experience (preferably in food manufacturing industry)
- High School diploma / GED or equivalent (required)
- Willing to work flexible hours (some weekend or late night cover required)
- Basic computer skills (i.e. Excel/Word)
- Basic math skills (required)
