ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY SOUGHT FOR SMALL, YET BUSY ELDER LAW FIRM IN CHARLOTTESVILLE. THIS IS NOT A TELECOMMUTE POSITION.
HOURS: TWO TO THREE DAYS PER WEEK PART TIME OR FIVE DAYS FULL TIME, 9:00AM-5:00PM, PLUS ADDITIONAL TIME AS NEEDED TO ASSIST WITH MONTHLY SEMINARS AND WITH FULL TRAINING EVENTUALY CONDUCT MONTHLY SEMINARS TO THE PUBLIC.
TOTAL HOURS: 20 HOURS PER WEEK PART TIME, AND 40 HOURS PER WEEK FULL TIME
CANDIDATE MUST ALSO BE WILLING TO ACCEPT ADDITIONAL DAYS/HOURS ON OCCASION (NOT OFTEN) TO ENSURE CLIENT NEEDS ARE FULLY MET.
TRAINING: UPON HIRING, THERE WOULD BE A TRAINING / TRIAL SCHEDULE THAT WOULD CONSIST OF AT LEAST 2 WEEKS.
START DATE: ASAP (FLEXIBLE)
JOB DESCRIPTION: PROVIDE LEGAL SERVICES TO THE FIRMS CLIENTS.
- MEET WITH FIRM CLIENTS, initially with Principal Attorney, and with full training, meet with clients alone
- ADVISE CLIENTS on a wide range of issues, including their estate planning needs and where appropriate, their elder care needs, to include, legal documents, estate protection, medical and caregiving needs. All client meetings will initially be with Principal Attorney, and with full training, meet with clients alone
- DRAFT LEGAL DOCUMENTS, with supervision, once clients' estate planning and other legal needs have been established
- Strong Computer skills, email, familiar with database / CRM software, access firm computer shared drive
- ATTEND FIRM SEMINARS GIVEN TO THE PUBLIC, initially with Principal Attorney, and with full training, conduct portions of the workshop
- General legal and administrative duties as assigned by principal attorney to ensure that firm clients receive excellent legal services in a warm, friendly manner
QUALIFICATIONS/STRENGTHS OF AN IDEAL CANDIDATE:

- PREFER applicants with a law degree, admittance to the Virginia bar, and 2 to 3 years' (or more) law office experience
- We will consider those without admittance to the Virginia bar, and those admitted in another state / country, who have a demonstrated skill set aligned with the above qualifications.
