Celebrating over 90 years of business, Rockydale Quarries Corporation, an established aggregate producer in the State of Virginia, is seeking a Payroll Coordinator for our Corporate office in Roanoke, VA.
Qualifications and Expectations
- Five plus years payroll experience in corporate environment.
- Accounting experience such as accounts payable preferred
- Proven experience with automated time and attendance software (Kronos).
- Previous experience with ViewPoint a plus.
- Energetic and self-directed.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work and interact well with others and able to develop and maintain positive working relationships.
- Must be able to identify problems and opportunities, gather relevant evidence and make effective decisions using sound judgment.
- Proven ability to think critically, achieve results, manage multiple tasks, adhere to deadlines, and work well under pressure both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong administrative, organizational, and time management skills
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint or similar office software.

General Responsibilities
- Responsible for all administrative activities necessary to process weekly payroll for multiple locations and companies.
- Checking and auditing timekeeping records for compliance with established standards.
- Calculating and recording payroll deductions.
- Processing final payments for terminated employees.
- Processing voluntary deduction reports.
- Processing involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments.
- Prepare federal and state payroll tax returns
- Assist with year-end W-2 process
- Special projects as assigned.
Working Conditions
The Payroll Coordinator generally works a standard 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. schedule, but seasonal business or month-end closing may require an extended presence at the office. In these cases, the position should expect occasional work late at night, early in the morning, or on weekends
