What you will do
Reporting to the Chief Digital & Information Officer, this role operates at the Executive level of the organization with time scale influence of greater than 2 years. The role is accountable for establishing the IT strategy, leading the Enterprise Architecture function, expanding the organization’s digital capabilities as well as directing the data analytics department at Clarios. The role will also provide executive leadership to the Global Program Management Office (PMO) and Service Management Office (SMO). In this capacity, the individual will act as a strategic advisor to Clarios leadership by providing thought leadership, driving consistency, building governance and ensuring use of digital and data analytics best practices. This role is expected to be a change leader, critical in visioning and creating a pragmatic IT strategy inclusive of traditional IT products and services as well as emerging digital needs relying on modern architecture. The individual is skilled in the application of new technology but rooted in successful program delivery and driven by business outcomes. The role will lead the evolution of the traditional IT PMO into the modern age of agile, product-based delivery.
In strong partnership with IT leadership and Corporate Strategy, the role will shape the annual IT strategy to leverage past successes and continually reinvent the function to meet new business needs. The individual will identify from each business strategy the required IT contributions for success and construct strategic themes with specific goals and underlying programs to achieve stated results.
The role is accountable for the Enterprise IT Architecture discipline at Clarios. The individual will direct a team of Enterprise Architects to build and maintain a hierarchy of key application, infrastructure and security architectures for the company. The role will drive governance programs to ensure new technologies fit within the greater IT landscape of Clarios.
With the support of Executive Leadership, the individual is accountable for the creation of Digital Strategy and Digital Program Delivery for Clarios. This role will work with the C-suite to identify long-term objectives that require digital enablement and realize them through the creation of digital program structure and cross-functional team execution. The role will establish guidelines for regional delivery teams to operate within, enabling independence as well as governance.
With direct ownership of the IT PMO and Service Management organization, this role will reshape project and portfolio management processes, tools and techniques to enable success in the digital era. The role is accountable for annual project portfolio scoping and project execution. Additionally the role is accountable for monthly operations reviews of IT functional performance.
Lastly, the role is accountable for the data analytics function and its execution in support of the overall Digital & Data Analytics strategy and roadmap. The data analytics group operates the company data lake, providing trustworthy data models and reliable visualizations to the numerous business groups within Clarios on a daily basis. The role is responsible for the successful maintenance and delivery of new and existing advanced analytical capabilities.
The role will direct teams comprised of both internal and external resources to design, develop, test and launch new capabilities. The leader will be expected to incorporate contemporary architectural techniques and agile delivery methodologies to achieve desired business outcomes in the shortest time possible at lowest delivered cost. The role will also be responsible for establishing and managing all ongoing support and maintenance of global digital and analytics platforms. This position manages a team of internal employees along with management of numerous external vendors.
The role will be a leader, coach, mentor and evangelist for IT, digital and data analytics across the global business.
As a leader in the organization, this role needs to set the appropriate tone at the top. The individual is expected to understand the key priorities of the business and use all the resources within their control to execute upon them. The position requires a leader who leads by example, is competent, confident, perseverant, inspirational, influencing, disciplined and dependable. In addition, this individual needs to be highly inquisitive, collaborative, a strong communicator and continuous improvement minded.
The position requires a demonstrated ability to manage a diverse set of requests, quickly mediate between competing priorities, and work effectively with colleagues, contractors, and business management both within and across reporting relationships, business units and geographic regions.
Finally, this leadership role is responsible for the management, development and engagement of its people, including the hiring of staff, their instruction, coaching and evaluation.
How you will do it
Strategic Advisor, Thought Leader, Change Advocate

Strategy – Lead the Clarios business and IT function through the strategy development process for creating and maintaining both IT functional strategy and corporate digital strategy.

Advisory – Develop strong relationships with business leaders. Act as an advisor for the Clarios CIO and Clarios business leadership on industry trends and emerging opportunities for IT as well as digital & data analytics to enable profitable growth. Identify new ways to solve long-standing problems.

Governance – Establish and lead governance processes with steering committee members to ensure alignment of the function with needs and expectations of the business.

Education – Responsible for the identification and learning of new technologies and delivery methods. Must be self-led learner and engage in outside training. Connect readily available technology like Cloud, SaaS, APIs, Mobile, Microservices, AI and machine learning to real business problems.

Change Advocacy – Improve business results by influencing leaders to change existing process and techniques to leverage advanced technology and insights provided via data analytics. Champion the transformation from historical analytics to exception focused to predictive capabilities and eventually prescriptive instruction.

Develop and maintain an IT functional strategy with corresponding multi-year roadmap aligned with business and functional strategies.
Enterprise Architecture
- Provide direction and oversight to internal and external Enterprise Architects in the creation and maintenance of reference architectures.

Construct and operate processes for architecture governance reviews of new technology investments to manage complexity within the Clarios IT landscape.

Build and maintain a company-wide digital strategy and roadmap focused on the use of modern technology to enable profitable growth.

Create a digital program delivery capability within the company that brings together cross-functional teams to create digital products for specific business segments.

Provide cross-company exposure to the portfolio of digital initiatives for purposes of knowledge sharing and potential reuse.

Give direction to regional digital resources regarding methodology, tool and partner selection.
Data Analytics – “PLAN”

As part of overall IT functional strategy, maintain an analytics strategy and roadmap to fulfill business needs.

Select technologies, platforms and vendor partners that fit the needs of the business and align with overall Clarios IT Strategy and IT policy.

Working with regional business, IT and finance leaders, identify digital enablement themes as well as a backlog of quick wins. Shape each opportunity with clear business outcomes and financial business case for each investment.

Lead digital topics which are of an exploratory nature to determine viability.
Data Analytics - “BUILD”
-
Direct Analytics delivery and support organizations, both internal and external.

Deliver work effort and cost estimates for new analytics initiatives.

Participate in solution ideation, high-level planning and solution architecture design reviews.

Responsible for qualification, selection and commercial agreements with external solution delivery parties.

Work in collaboration with Clarios IT application services team and infrastructure teams to ensure compatibility of designs and on-time integrated delivery.

Responsible for overall quality of solution delivery and successful cutover and launch activities.
Data Analytics - “RUN”

Provide support services tailored to the needs of the analytics and master data product consumers.

Establish and manage external RUN operations using preferred providers and specific SLAs.

Accountable for incident response and resolution for all analytics products and platforms.

Accountable for the performance of the analytics operations team.
Project Management Office (PMO) and Service Management Office (SMO)
- Evolve portfolio creation, funding and management processes to focus IT project delivery on key corporate strategies and risk mitigation.

Set the PMO strategy to continually improve delivery cost, speed, quality and organizational change management with the proper application of waterfall and agile methods.

Provide leadership direction to the SMO to enable continuous IT process improvement, IT master data management and department reporting.

Leverage PMO and SMO resources (internal and external) to support the acceleration of digital transformation at Clarios.
Team Management
-
Staff Management - Responsible for the professional development of staff. Responsible for hiring of staff personnel in area of responsibility. Conducts interviews, individual performance and development planning performance reviews, other supervisory interactions and proposes salary increases.
Departmental
-
Financial Responsibilities – Leads creation of department budget and quarterly forecasts. Responsible for consulting, salary, travel and training budgets in designated areas of responsibility.

Employee Engagement – Contribute to and sponsor efforts to drive improvements in employee engagement.
What we look for

BS Degree in Engineering, Business Management, IT or similar degree. MS Degree or MBA preferred.
-
15+ years’ experience leading strategic projects, business functions or IT teams. Experience leading in a large global manufacturing organization preferred.
-
10+ years leadership experience managing teams.
-
Experience with business process design and continuous improvement methodology. Six sigma certifications preferred.
-
Demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of a large organization without direct authority.
-
Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
-
Strong familiarity with change management methodologies and techniques.

Experience building multiple strategic plans and numerous business cases.

Experience delivering within structured Project Management methodologies in both waterfall and agile environments

Experience leading individual programs greater than $10M in size is required.

Experience leading organizational change management programs.

Experience with Vendor Management for both product and service vendors

Experience negotiating managed service and fixed-price delivery contracts
