Job Summary – Assistant Store Manager
The Assistant Store Manager is a key member of the store management team and will assist the Manager in creating and maintaining an efficient store operation. This individual will work closely with the Manager by providing sound guidance while coaching and developing the team to their fullest potential. The Assistant Manager will oversee all areas including: day-to-day operations, sales, inventory, employee performance and customer satisfaction. The Assistant Store Manager will partner their Store Manager along with the Regional Vice President, Territory Sales Manager, and store team to implement all corporate and store programs, practices and policies.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for managing the day to day operations of the store assets including cash, inventory, vehicles, furniture and fixtures
- Plan, direct, coordinate and execute the development, assessment, implementation and tracking of all store and growth initiatives
- Ensure key processes are in place through staff evaluations and data analysis
- Instill a sense of urgency within the team to increase sales and improve customer service
- Utilize your expertise in providing sound advice, coaching and assistance to store team and monitor all aspects of operations
- Communicate the company’s expectations and culture through actions, verbal instructions and in writing to new and existing team members
- Emphasize a professional appearance and image at every level
- Work closely with Store Manager on payroll management and productivity improvements and forecast staffing needs
- Promote efficiency to maximize store profitability
- Provide leadership to the team on how to build new accounts and penetrate existing customers
- Resolve any customer and /or team member issues in a timely professional manner
- Ensure retail sales area and displays are merchandised effectively
- Other Duties: Ensure safety, verify bank deposits are processed daily, review, approve and initial all cash refunds, voided invoices and price overrides.
- Complete required training
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge and experience in the Automotive Aftermarket is required
- Experience in supervising others in a fast paced, retail/wholesale environment
- Must be a motivated and self-starting individual, willing to learn new skills and gain knowledge about all aspects of store operations
- Demonstrated sales, time management, organizational, and supervisory skills
- Must have a clean driving record
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to provide instruction and direction to other teammates
- Ability to handle multiple tasks
- Ability to work weekends
- Excellent customer service, organizational skills and attention to detail
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma, GED or Associate’s degree
- Minimum of 2 years of automotive experience
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and move merchandise of up to 40 poundsand occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
- Move engine blocks, core barrels, and other heavy equipment using moving aids designed to move such items, including hand trucks, barrel dollies, hydraulic lifts
- Bend or stoop to floor-level shelves and reach upper shelves with use of stool or ladder when necessary
- Stand and walk for entire work shift
