Role Overview:
Pioneer is poised for rapid growth through M&A and vertical integration as such, Pioneer is seeking a strategic, business partner-oriented VP of Finance/Controller. The VP of Finance/Controller will be a critical part of the organizations leadership team and will play a key role in refining and executing a high-growth strategic plan. The VP of Finance/Controller is responsible for all financial and fiscal management aspects of company operations and is an effective developer of solutions to business challenges. This position provides timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends in order to assist the CEO/President, the Board and other senior executives in performing their responsibilities. The VP of Finance/Controller will align capital with opportunities for the highest long-term ROI and ensure the business has the right capital to achieve related goals.

Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a financial and business thought partner to the chief executive officer and other members of the senior management team. Contribute actively to the evolution and execution of the organization’s strategic and operational plans, maximizing opportunities to serve more customers; sustain and deliver service excellence; accelerate profitable growth and potentially develop new, innovative go-to-market strategies and revenue streams.
- Develop strong financial systems and oversee the implementation of those processes.
- Provides analysis and internal reporting that informs business decision-making and enables the leadership team to have greater insight into key metrics of business performance. Helps anticipate and then engage proactively in ongoing operational and organizational initiatives to improve profit margins and identify opportunities to continually improve the business financially.
- Ensure that all levels of the company are provided with accurate, timely and relevant financial reporting which is meaningful to the business and ensure the integrity and compliance of all financial and regulatory reporting, controls, processes and systems.
- Support the chief executive officer by interfacing directly with the investors and board of directors, ensuring they have a clear sense of the overall financial health and potential risk areas of the company.
- Ensure that strategic planning and forecasting are key competencies in the organization. Develop and utilize forward-looking predictive models and activity-based financial analyses to ensure that the company is able to correctly assess information and reforecast implications quickly and thoughtfully.
- Develop long-term, trusted relationships and credibility with key external constituencies including external auditors, developed and newly developing banking relationships and other advisors.
- Forecast scenarios and analyze inputs based on review of financial models and rating agency capital.
- Demonstrate proficiency in monitoring, forecasting, and coordinating cash management functions to manage consolidated corporate capital.
- Actively participate in all M&A identification, due diligence, negotiations and integration of potential acquisition targets, always with a value creation mind-set.
- Provide leadership, mentorship and coaching to the finance organization that fosters an environment of problem solving, collaboration, efficiency, improved business practices and attracts and retains superior financial talent.
Desired Outcomes:
- Serve as a key partner to the chief executive officer in planning the company’s future growth, value creation and strategic partnerships, while leveraging its strategic advantage in the space.
- Work closely with the senior leadership team by providing financial transparency, insight and profitability analysis into business performance.
- Assist in the creation of a refined and highly-scalable M&A assessment and site-selection model that can be applied to a wide range of opportunities for Pioneer’s expansion.
- Develop trusted, strong relationships with the board, lenders and other external stakeholders and ensure transparent communication that inspires confidence about the state of the business.
- Recruit, mentor and develop the finance team and its capability for an increasingly complex and larger business, specifically building strength within the FP&A function to assess market positioning, competition and strategic planning.
Candidate Profile:
- Certified Public Accountant and or strong financial accounting experience & acumen.
- Proficiency in detailed cost accounting & analysis.
- Experience with ERP and FP&A systems implementation.
- Strong inventory controls and management experience.
- Strong handle on inter-company sales, costs, and adjustments.
- Zero-based or bottom up Budgeting, modeling & strategic leadership and experience.
- Comfort presenting financial performance, statistics, and performance to various stakeholders including Board of Directors, major investors, and strategic partners.
- Experience with capital raises & capital structures.
Ideal Experience:
- 10+ years in service-oriented businesses and experience in multi-site growth businesses.
- Experience with Intaact Platform preferred.
- Experience working directly with production and operations teams on cost, inventory, and operational finance and accounting needs.
- Ideally has experience working in a high-growth, fast-moving organization. Preference for fast-moving, lean organizations. Foundational training in an organization known for developing blue-chip finance talent is preferred.
- Exposure to national & international businesses.
- Our VP of Finance/Controller will ideally have worked for companies with a global footprint and will understand the needs of operating in an organization with significant international reach.
- Experience developing a finance organization and FP&A team to support the needs of a growing business. An accomplished leader who has previously led and inspired diverse teams.
- Has an established reputation for attracting and promoting talent within organizations.
- Undergraduate degree required; advanced degree highly desirable.
