SIELC Technologies is a fast-growing company specializing in high-tech chemical analysis. SIELC has an opening for a Research & Development Synthetic Organic Chemist. The selected candidate will be part of a technical team responsible for the innovation of new products.
Lead development work on new molecules and improve the process of earlier developed syntheses for the R & D part of the company. Develop project routes and test synthetic options. Need flexibility in thought processes, quickly adapting to the needs of each project. Collaborate with technology leaders to develop, enhance, and present value propositions for specifically targeted products.
Design new chemical entities, interpret spectra, analyze data, and document results. Activities will include the design, synthesis & characterization of a wide range of materials, typically small molecules, mostly silanes related to liquid chromatography.
Working knowledge of GC, HPLC, FTIR, GC/MS, NMR, DSC, and TGA is required. Develop initial process flow diagrams and raw material cost estimates for new materials. Troubleshoot lab equipment & resolve issues. Coordinate service work that includes external contract laboratories as needed.
Maintain current awareness of the chemical literature.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, results-oriented, self-starter, with a strong desire to perform non-routine hands-on lab work. The ability to work closely with other team members is required. Simple mechanical aptitude is important.
Required: Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form. Ability to work efficiently on a multi-disciplinary team Demonstrated ability to maintain clear and timely laboratory records. Ability to learn new chemistry and applications requirements quickly. Strong knowledge of structure-property relationships in small organic molecules. Strong knowledge in interpreting analytical data including GC, HPLC, GC/MS, FTIR, NMR.
A Ph.D. degree in Chemistry or MS in chemistry and 5+ years of laboratory research experience will be a plus.
Salary will be determined based on experience. SIELC provides health & dental insurance and provides two weeks of vacation time after 6 months.
