Director of Accounts Payable

We are working on behalf of a leading healthcare group with over 10,000 employees and over $1bn in annual revenues, looking for a Director of Accounts Payable to oversee the groups A/p department, consistin of 10 A/P specialists. As Director of Accounts Payable you will be responsible for setting the standards and direction of the A/P department whilst ensuring the A/P specialists based within each facility are well trained and adhere to the organizations goals and strategic vision. This is a vital role in ensuring accurate financial records and maintaining positive relationships with vendors.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the team to process accounts payable invoices and payments accurately and in a timely manner
- Review exceptional and high-value invoices for accuracy, completeness, and proper authorization
- Lead on the hiring and training of A/P specialists within the organization
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date vendor records in the accounting system
- Lead on month-end closing procedures related to accounts payable
- Respond to vendor inquiries regarding payment status or invoice discrepancies
- Collaborate with internal departments to resolve any issues or questions related to accounts payable
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as relevant tax regulations
Experience:
- Previous experience leading Accounts Payable department, ideally within a healthcare setting.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, PeopleSoft, or similar accounting software
- Strong data entry skills with high accuracy and attention to detail
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices
- Familiarity with journal entries and general ledger coding
- Experience working with tax-related documents is a plus
- Previous experience in public accounting or a similar industry is beneficial
