Position Summary
Define and promote a quality mindset across the entire company. Manage all QA functions, working with cross-departmental leadership to deliver high quality products on schedule.
Primary Responsibilities
QUALTIY ASSURANCE AND FOOD SAFETY:

Assure quality products and processes by establishing and enforcing quality standards and testing materials and products

Establishes quality and reliability standards by studying product and consumer requirements with other members of management and with production operators, technicians and engineers.

Develop raw material standards by studying manufacturing requirements , conferring and negotiation with suppliers and devising testing evaluation tests, methods and procedures.

Implement in-process product inspection standards by studying manufacturing methods and devising testing methods and procedures.
-
Establish standards for the disposition of finished product by devising evaluation tests, methods and procedures.
REGULATORY COMPLIANCE:
-
Liaison with the USDA, FDA, ODA and other regional or local inspectors

Customer food safety and quality audits
-
Ensure appropriate file process protocol
MAINTAIN PLANT CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS:
-
Identity Preserved Foods as required by Plant Policies
-
Oversight of Non GMO, and Gluten Free (GFCO) programs
-
Oversee the development, maintenance, validation and revision of the Identity Preserved Foods Systems
-
SQF Practitioner
-
Oversight of SQF Certification process and other 3rd party certificates
-
Develop, maintain, validate and revise annually the SQF Program
-
Ongoing SQF program management- ensure that SQF rules are being respected rigorously

Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate activities related to the SQF program
PRODUCTION AND OPERATIONS:

Ensure that adequate protocol is developed for proper maintenance for quality assurance
-
Provide real-time guidance during food processing to product developers and plant staff
-
Manage any problems and/or deviations that may affect the integrity of the product or data and organize and participate in corrective actions

Set up the laboratory operation and maintenance of instrumentation and the execution of routine and non-routine analytical methods in the plant laboratory and production environments

Manage Retort records and all Deviations administered to Process Authority
QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGEMENT:
SANITATION MANAGEMENT:

Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science/Food Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or related field essential
-
Minimum 10 years’ Quality Assurance experience in a Food Manufacturing required with 5 years’ of leading/managing a quality team
-
Must have knowledge and experience working with third party auditors to included SQF audits & SQF systems
-
Experience working with sanitation and in-line process control preferred
-
Must have sufficient mathematical skills - Low level statistical analysis and scientific conversions and able to deploy Statistical Process Controls

Capable of working sufficiently in automated software functions
-
Capable of working in a fast pace environment and budget time accordingly
-
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information to a broad audience

Proven people skills required, must have ability to work with others while effectively handling internal pressures
