We are seeking a motivated and versatile individual who has a wide variety of mechanical abilities. Primary duties involve maintenance, repair, and operation of farming equipment, and related harvest and load-out equipment. You will likely be required to assist with other duties on the farm throughout the season as well.
Responsibilities:
- Equipment Repair:
- Perform routine maintenance on farm equipment, including but not limited to tractors, loaders, forklifts, and conveyors.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues to minimize downtime and ensure equipment operates efficiently.
- Carry out repairs, replacements, and installations of parts as needed.
- Coordinate with Storage Manager where external service providers for specialized repairs and maintenance are required.
- Seasonal Duties:
- During harvest and planting seasons, assist in various farm operations such as field preparation, planting, harvesting, grading, and packing of potatoes, primarily operation of bin pilers and loadout equipment.
- Operate machinery and equipment required for farming tasks.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of seasonal activities.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while performing all tasks.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Relevant technical certifications or trade school education is a plus.
- Proven experience in mechanical maintenance and repair.
- Knowledge of, and experience with low and high voltage electrical systems and troubleshooting is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of agricultural machinery and equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing tasks and responsibilities during different seasons.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
This is a full-time position, and the schedule may vary depending on the demands of the farm. Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience.
