- Essential Functions of the Customer Service Receptionist Position:
- Customer service functions, including greeting and welcoming visitors, pet parents and pets with sincerity.
- Answering phone calls, e-mails and/or electronic messages.
- Scheduling appointments; creating, maintaining and updating pet and/or pet owner information using our designated software.
- Processing payments for services.
- Represent North Star Animal Hospital & Center by providing excellent customer service and focus.
- Cross-train and assist in Kennel Tech Department
- Additional tasks that may be assigned by the department manager or general management staff.
Typical Problems this Position may face:
- Customer service issues (unhappy or emotional pet parent[s])
- Exposure to animal odors, diseases, possible contagious conditions, bites, scratches, pet waste and moderate noise levels.
- Managing multiple tasks simultaneously.

- Working knowledge of breeds, diseases, medical conditions, animal handling and behavior.
- Ability to handle animals safely and with patience and gentleness.
- Ability to represent North Star Animal Hospital & Center in a professional manner in all situations with the public, volunteers and staff.
- Ability to create and sustain positive working relationships within the North Star Animal Hospital & Center organization to include staff, volunteers, the public and be a team player.

- Must be detail oriented and have strong time management skills.

- Ability to learn and quickly adapt to changes in programs, policies and procedures.
