Job Duties: Medical assistants perform a combination of administrative and clinical tasks within a healthcare setting. These professionals commonly work alongside other medical staff under the supervision of a physician. Additionally, medical assistants can be an essential part of a healthcare team, as their responsibilities help keep the facilities they work in organized and operating efficiently. Responsibilities for Medical Assistant:
- Friendly greetings to all guests.
- Answer phone calls professionally, record organized messages for follow-up.
- Send and receive medical records per HIPAA privacy guidelines.
- Scan documents into patient charts; records, reports, orders, billing items.
- Deliver invoices for products and services, treatments, medications, supplements, supplies, shipping.
- Collect payments, provide receipts and properly record in QuickBooks.
o Payments for treatments/services, medications, supplements, specialty testing, meals, shipping.
- Coordinate patient appointments with providers.
o Weekly patient scheduling per POC and patient attendance expectations.
- Coordinate patient arrival with patient care coordinators.
- Coordinate patient referral appointments.
- Ensure all necessary paperwork is acquired for provider appointments.
- Coordinate patient rides with driver or Lyft service.
- Check messages via Teams and Email for patient updates; attendance, changes to schedules, etc.
- Ensure the front desk is organized and properly stocked with necessary supplies.
- Assist with lunch orders, setup.
- Ensure check-in areas and lobby are clean, organized and appropriately stocked.
- Assist with Reception and Office Assistant duties as needed.
- Scribe experience a plus.
Qualifications for Medical Assistant
- Must be coachable and a team player seeking an opportunity with a fast growing company.
- High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited medical assistance certification program preferred
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and other external parties in a courteous and friendly manner at all times
- Must be detail-oriented and highly organized
- Firm grasp on medical practices, administrative processes, and organizational policies
- Knowledge of patient care and examination procedures
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality at all times'
