The Schools Team is at the nexus of our mission and works in collaboration with students, families, school-based teammates, and other network teams to ensure that every student receives excellent educational opportunities. Core to achieving this mission is a strong data specialist who can manage key components of the network's schools-focused data.
Reporting to the Vice President of Infrastructure & Operations, and also working closely with other members of the Schools Team, broader DPPS network team, and school-based teammates within Democracy Prep, the Schools Senior Data Specialist will be instrumental in creating, implementing, and maintaining innovative systems for organizing, analyzing, and leveraging schools-focused data in order to support strong outcomes for students. This position will also work with the Schools Team to codify and monitor the execution of best practices, policies, procedures, and documentation for network schools-focused data operations.

What you will do
The Schools Senior Data Specialist will be responsible for overseeing: Schools Data Visualizations, Schools Data Collection and Storage, Schools Data Tools, Schools Analysis and Reports, and Teammate Training and Support with Schools-Focused Data
- Perform analysis of schools-focused data to support network and school leader decision making
- Provide training and guidance to both school-based and network-based staff in best practices for organizing, analyzing, and leveraging schools-focused data in order to drive strategy in support of strong outcomes
- Develop data reports and data visualizations that support strong educational programming for multiple stakeholders
- Develop internal databases that maintain schools-focused data
- Communicate technical issues to technical and non-technical audiences and perform related duties
- Build strong working relationships with DPPS network office staff and school-based staff members to support and troubleshoot any needs related to schools-focused data
- Ensure consistent implementation of schools-focused data systems and procedures across schools, including working closely with school-based stakeholders
- Monitor and audit data collection processes to ensure data integrity
- Codify and monitor the execution of new and existing best practices, policies, procedures, and documentation for schools-focused data operations
- Work with the Schools Team to create reports for multiple stakeholders on schools-focused data
- Create and administer survey instruments
- Strategize regarding methods for streamlining and simplifying data systems in order to ensure that teammates are able to effectively engage with and leverage tools
- Manage key schools-focused data system tools and structures, including but not limited to the following systems: master schedules, summer school set up, trimester/quarter closeouts, DeansList management (including progress reports, report cards, PID letters, and MPC letters), suspension data dashboard and visualization management, transcripts (including gradebook auditing and the transcript audit tool), school review data, the ATS Validation Tool, and attendance audit cadences
- Support teammates with schools-focused data needs as needed through the Incident IQ support platform
- Perform other related duties as assigned, including participation in network-wide or department specific initiatives and/or projects.
- Graduate of a Bachelor's degree program is required
- This opportunity is best suited for individuals who have a degree in a quantitative field and/or experience maintaining data information systems and maintaining the day-to-day operating functions of a team, preferably in education/non-profit environments.

Compensation
Salary range is $84,000 - $100,000 commensurate with your experience. Democracy Prep employees are provided with a benefits package that includes medical, vision, and dental insurance, 403B matching, and parental leave.
