PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop quality instruction to enhance student learning
- Teach assigned subjects, adjusting tools and strategies to meet the needs of the learners
- Plan large and small group instruction
- Collaborate with grade level teachers in the planning of activities and instruction
- Plan and implement classroom management procedures that clearly define expectations and build a positive classroom community
- Model effective oral and written communication
Support the mission of BJA
- Participate in activities related to the school
- Maintain student academic grades and attendance
- Fulfill various supervisory duties
- Attend BJA faculty meetings
- Communicate the religious beliefs of BJU to students and student affiliates
- Answer questions concerning faith, doctrine, and creed of BJU to constituents, students, or those inquiring about BJU
- Maintain professional appearance and presentation
Partner with parents to support student growth
- Communicate with parents and administration regarding student progress
- Monitor students in the areas of academics, behavior, social skills and growth and development and remediate as needed
- Communicate grades on a timely basis through the Student Management System
- Resolve parental concerns in a timely and gracious manner
Maintain a professional growth mindset
- Attend school-wide professional development days
- Attend conferences in academic field
- Participate in Professional Learning Communities
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Understanding of elementary level students and teaching
- Excellent communication skills
- Organizational abilities and problem-solving skills
- Enjoys working with children
- Maintain a current educator’s certificate from an agency approved by BJU
